Assalaamu'alaikum Wr Wb.
I never really thought about it, but when I did, I realised that I'm already in my second year at university (and will be going into my third year soon too inshaAllah).
MashaAllah.. how time flies... and how long has it been since I last updated my blog? heh.
Not much happened these days but a few very significant events...life-changing significant events...
No, I'm not getting married (if that's what you're thinking).. not yet anyway. But it really does take experience to learn some things.
I'm unable to share everything in detail due to personal reasons but I do have to remind myself and others to always, ALWAYS be careful in seeking knowledge. I (and i'm sure many others) have made the mistake of relying a lot on ustaz Google and sheikh Youtube, etc for information on religion.
Well, that there lies the problem: information. The internet merely provide us with information. What we really need isn't information but knowledge. That's why they say that knowledge is power; not information is power.
Yes, we can learn a great deal of things from the internet but we shouldn't rely solely on it. The best and proper way to learn and to gain knowledge is by means of talaqqi or via a teacher/scholar. Because then, any doubts or misunderstanding will be explained thoroughly and properly.
If we were to watch a video in Youtube or read an article on any website, the main source of 'explanation' we have is from the comments. Bila tak faham je, baca comments. Maybe this isn't the case for all of us but most of us do this- consciously or unconsciously. Either way, it's not entirely a good idea. Because, we don't know who the commenters are, what their credibility is, yada yada yada. So their answers may be misleading or misunderstood.
By saying this, I don't mean that we shouldn't refer to the internet at all. Yes, we can refer to ustaz Google but only as a source for additional information- not as our ustaz or teacher.
I am not saying this merely based on my experience and scarce knowledge but on an article I read from a Solusi magazine (which I left at home and can't look up the writers' name. -___- )
Alhamdulillah, IIUM has quite a number of talks, kuliah and talaqqi programmes nearly every night. Although I might not be able to attend all of them but to know that they are available is heart-settling.
(What's not heart-settling though, is this fire alarm bell at my mahallah. It keeps getting off on random occasions quite frequently. It's ringing now. I've looked around and there's no fire in sight. Setopp ringginngggggg pehlisssssss!huhu)
Anyway, I guess that's it for now. My mood to write has entirely faded due to this fire alarm. haha. May we always be under His Mercy and Guidance inshaAllah.
