I Miss Studying.

"Stroop Effect Among Bilingual Arab Speakers"

My fingers lingered on the edge of the folder, taking my time as I reminisced the long, hard, yet rewarding effort it took to write that report. I flipped to the next set of pages.

"The Perception of Turkish and Malaysian Students in IIUM on Muller-Lyer Illusion"

There was a correction done by my beloved lecturer on the word "IIUM", telling my groupmates and I to avoid using abbreviations on the front cover of a report.

Going through the reports and papers I did during my 4 years as a Psychology Undergraduate in IIUM brought back so much memories. It has been nearly a year after my graduation (10 months more or less). I can't believe it has been that long. Where did all that time go?

Ah, yes.
It went to my work. Of course.

Working has actually made me miss my student life more.
I miss sitting down on the desk, laptop on my left and a book (textbook or reference book) on my right, taking down notes on my notebook, while sipping a cup of hot coffee. I can already hear the birds singing, the crickets chirping, the occasional croaks of the frogs... Hehe, yeah, those were the sounds that I would hear sitting at my study table next to my room window.

Sigh.

If you're reading this, and you are still a student, do your best. Don't give up on anything. Things may seem hard, you may feel lost, you may feel the need to throw yourself to the ground in frustration (how that is even possible, I do not know). But don't give up.

The rewards of studying doesn't only come out on your degree or academic transcript. It also comes in the form of a stronger mind, a higher intelligence, and you'll become more adaptable to different surroundings. Not only will you be clever, you'll be "street smart" as well- given the fact that you actually went through those tough times in university (or college, or high school) and pushed yourself past your comfort zones. In other words, going through those hurdles will make you a better person.

You don't have to be the best student. You don't have to be a valedictorian. You don't have to be on the dean's list (if you can, then that's good. It's a plus point, alhamdulillah. ^_^v). But if you can't, don't beat yourself up. Because success doesn't only come in paper-form. It also comes in the form of self-development; how you have bettered yourself as an individual.

Good things may come to those who wait. But it also comes to those who work for it. It'll be hard, yes. You'll feel tired, yes. But trust Allah, it will all be worth it. Most especially if your hard work and effort is based purely on the intention to please Him. Lillahi ta'alaa.

Trust Allah, and do your best.
It'll all be worth it, inshaAllah.

Allahua'laam.
Assalaamu'alaikum wr.
